Nairobi international trade fair

Ever since the beginning trees have furnished us with life’s essentials; oxygen and food.As we evolve so do their values in the provision of other necessities such as shelter, medicine, tools and fragrances.

Trees are an important aspect  of every community take for instance the Kikuyu and the Mugumo tree. Our streets, parks, playgrounds and backyards are lined with trees that create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment.DSCN1756

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, “One acre of a  forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen.
This is enough to meet the annual needs of 18 people thus making tree important both ecologically, environmentally, commercially and spiritually.
During this year’s Nairobi international trade fair i got to learn so much more about trees.

Did you know that can actually make tea from trees.I am not talking about shrubs(i know you are  familiar with herbal tea from hibiscus, chamomile and moringa). I am talking about herbal tea from a tree.Well wondering what the tree is?Ever heard of sandalwood tree( genus Santalum).

Apart from being used in the production of fragrances, medicine and timber, the tree is also used to make tea which is very tasty.

Going round the various stands i encountered beautiful carvings from bamboo(displayed by Kenya forestry research institute)  and nice set up green house by Starke ayres.

Starke ayres is a company that specialises in the supply of vegetable seed, lawn and turf grass seed and flower seed varieties for both commercial and home garden use.DSCN1714

It was a beautiful and knowledgeable experience.Looking forward to next year’s trade fair.
